BIM is the natural evolution of CAD. Rather than just drawing a wall, BIM—typically implemented through platforms like Autodesk Revit—creates an intelligent object. This object "knows" its material, cost, thermal properties, and its relationship to other building elements. BIM is not just a 3D model; it is a collaborative methodology. It provides a "single source of truth" where architects, structural engineers, and MEP specialists can work on a federated model simultaneously. This integrated approach allows for automated clash detection and lifecycle management, ensuring that the digital twin remains valuable from the initial design phase through to facility operations.
